Why a lounge access checker matters now

Free airport lounge access used to be simple: the card had the benefit, you showed the card, you walked in. That era is over. Through 2025 and 2026 almost every Indian bank has quietly attached a spend condition to lounge access, and the conditions keep moving. Axis Bank now wants Rs 50,000 of spends in the previous 3 calendar months on most of its lounge cards. HDFC Regalia Gold cut its base earn rate and linked its 3 domestic visits a quarter to Rs 60,000 of spends in the preceding quarter. IDFC FIRST Bank reduced its Wealth card from 4 domestic and 4 international visits a quarter to just 1 plus 1, still gated on Rs 20,000 of spends in the previous month. Scapia raised its unlimited lounge threshold from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 a month. Two cards, Airtel Axis and IndusInd EazyDiner, have removed complimentary lounge access completely.

The result is that thousands of cardholders reach the airport believing they have lounge access and get turned away at the desk, because last quarter spends fell a few thousand rupees short. This checker exists to prevent exactly that moment. Every spend gate, visit count and Priority Pass rule in the tool is taken from the issuer MITC and terms documents, verified on 21 October 2026, the same documents linked on each card review page on Credwiser.

How to use this lounge access checker

  1. Select your credit card from the list. The checker covers the cards in our catalogue whose lounge rules we have verified, including cards that honestly have no lounge access at all.
  2. Enter your spends in the window the card uses: this quarter for quarterly gates, the last 3 calendar months for Axis style gates, or this month for monthly gates. The input label changes to match your card.
  3. Read the result. You will see whether you have qualified or exactly how much you are short by, the days left in the current quarter or month, and the date the quarter resets.
  4. Check the exclusion chips before you plan a big spend. Rent, wallet loads, EMI conversions and fuel are commonly excluded, so a large payment in those categories may not move you closer to the gate at all.

Frequently asked questions

How much do I need to spend to get lounge access on my credit card?

It depends entirely on the card. The lowest gates are around Rs 20,000 in the previous month (IDFC FIRST cards, Scapia), mid-range cards ask for Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 in a quarter or in the previous 3 months (Axis Bank cards, HDFC Regalia Gold, ICICI Sapphiro), and demanding cards go up to Rs 1,50,000 in the previous quarter (IndusInd Pinnacle). Premium cards like HDFC Infinia and ICICI Emeralde have no spend gate at all.

Do all my spends count towards the lounge access spend criteria?

No. Banks exclude several categories when they calculate whether you crossed the spend gate. Axis Bank, for example, does not count rent, wallet loads, utilities, government spends, EMI conversions, cash withdrawals, insurance, gold and fuel. Always check the exclusion list shown for your card above, and your card MITC, before planning a big spend only to unlock a lounge visit.

What is the difference between a previous quarter rule and a same quarter rule?

With a previous quarter rule, spends in one calendar quarter unlock lounge visits in the next quarter; miss the gate and you wait three more months. With a same quarter rule, like the Tata Neu Infinity lounge vouchers, the spends and the benefit sit inside the same quarter, so a spend in the last week of the quarter may leave you no time to actually use the visit.

Is Priority Pass access the same as domestic lounge access?

No. Domestic lounge access in India usually runs on the card network programme (Visa, Mastercard or RuPay), while Priority Pass covers international lounges and is a separate membership. Guest entry on Priority Pass is charged on most cards, and from 28 August 2026 Priority Pass is not valid at Indian domestic lounges on several Axis Bank cards. Check the Priority Pass note for your card above.

Which credit cards give lounge access without any spend condition?

In our verified catalogue: HDFC Infinia, HDFC Diners Club Black Metal, ICICI Emeralde (both variants), Axis Olympus, SBI Prime, SBI Card Elite, HSBC TravelOne and AU Zenith Plus carry no quarterly spend gate. Their catch sits elsewhere instead: high annual fees, invite-only availability, or visit counts that are lower than the marketing suggests.
